Winter Zoocademy Lecture Series for Adults
Prevent the winter doldrums and cabin fever - join us for exciting and inspiring talks about a variety of interesting zoo-related topics. You can learn about the zoo and animal collection while enjoying the company of other adults. Light refreshments will be served.
The Genetics of Conservation: January 13 from 6-7:30PM
Modern day zoos rarely take animals from the wild any longer so it’s important that breeding be executed in as scientific and responsible fashion as possible. This session will ‘de-mystify’ basic genetics and explain how zoos are using this amazing science to save endangered species.

What does it take to be a lioness’ mate? Do lemurs create ‘love nests’? What exactly goes on in a kangaroos’ pouch? Explore the trials and tribulations of the animal mating game in the interested – and often amusing – session.
