Capron Park Zoo Celebrates Darwin Bicentennial with a Galapagos Voyage
Capron Park Zoo wants you to join Director Jean Benchimol to follow in the footstpes of the great scientist Charles Darwin on a visit to the Galapagos Islands.

2009 marks a set of important anniversaries for science; Charles Darwin’s 200th birthday and the 150th anniversary of the publication of The Origin of Species. Organizations from across the globe will celebrate these milestones with everything from sober symposiums to raucous festivals – even an attempt to build a replica of HMS Beagle and sail around the world.
Participants will fly to Quito and spend 7 nights aboard the 16- passenger M.Y. Monserrat, discovering the “Enchanted Islands” and the animals that helped Darwin construct his theory – notably giant tortoises, marine iguanas and endemic birds. A percentage of proceeds from the trip will benefit the Zoo and conservation work abroad.
