Unless otherwise noted, pre-registration is required for each of the following programs.
To pre-register please send an e-mail with which event and how many spaces you are interested in to the Education Department or call the Capron Park Zoo Education Department at 774-203-1840.

Register early - space is limited and the programs are popular!

 


JANUARY

 

Become a Zoo Volunteer

January 8, 15, 22, 19 and February 5 from 1-3 PM

If you are an adult interested in volunteering at the zoo, join our DOCENT TRAINING PROGRAM. Training runs for 5 consecutive Sunday afternoons and will cover everything from the zoo collection to educating the public. Serve your community and be a part of a great group of dedicated adults!

There is no fee for the training program

 

FEBRUARY

Winter Vacation Zoocademy for Kids :

February 21-24, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM For 6-8 year olds.

Fun and exciting programs available for children age 6-8. Kids will have on-site adventures while learning about the animals in the zoos collection. Sign up for a single day or all four! Pre-registration is required.

CRITTER CHRONICLES FOR KIDS

Tuesday, February 21: BEAR SNORES ON - Explore the world of bears, from the smallest to the largest and more.

 

Wednesday, February 22: THE MITTEN - When a young child looses a brand new mitten, wildlife enjoys! Take a look at how animals without cozy mittens to sleep in endure the winter months.

Thursday, February 23: A PORCUPINE NAMED FLUFFY - Names are important, even in the animal world. Learn about how scientists name new species...maybe even name your own!

Friday, February 24: WILD CARD - You never know what might happen on a wild card day. This day of child- directed fun is sure to be a favorite with everyone!

 

FEE: Members: $40/day, $135 for all four...Non-Members: $45/day, $155 for all four

APRIL

Spring Vacation Zoocademy

April 16-20 from 9 AM - 3 PM

FOR 6-8 year olds

Spring Vacation week is nearly here and the zoo is offering fun programs for kids age 6-8. Each session runs from 9 AM to 3 PM. Pre-registration is required.

Monday, April 16: VERDI : Explore the world of slithery snakes and their scaly cousins!

Tuesday, April 17: STELLA LUNA: What animals come out when the lights go out? Discover the animals that LOVE the dark.

Wednesday, April 18: CRICKWING : Take a look at the world of creepy crawlies

Thursday, April 19: PINDULI : A fun and exciting look at the animals of Africa

Friday, April 20: WHOSIT? WHATSIT? WHERESIT?: What book will we enjoy? Who will we meet? Where will we go? Who knows? But it's sure to be a fun day!

FEE:

MEMBERS: $40/day or $175 for all five days.

NON-MEMBERS: $45/day or $200 for all five days.

Earth Day Party for the Planet

April 22 from 11 AM- 2PM

Enjoy a day of crafts, animal encounters, exhibit talks and more as we celebrate the Earth's rich bioodiversity.

All the activites are included in zoo admission!
