
Internship Program
The Capron Park Zoo currently offers unpaid internships to college students interested in animal care and conservation. Summer Internships are 12 weeks long, and interns will get experience in all areas of zoo management, including, but not limited to: animal care, conservation education, veterinary work, and operations/maintenance. Applicants must be able to dedicate a minimum of three days a week, five hours per day.
Summer Internships for 2008 are currently filled.
Capron Park Zoo also offers 'fast track' unpaid winter internships for college students. Winter Internships are 5 weeks long, and offer participants the opportunity to work in all areas or zoo management, including but not limited to: animal care, conservation education, veterinary work and operations/maintenance. Applicants must be able to dedicate a minimum of 3 days a week, eight hours per day.
Requirements: Applicants must be 17 or older and have some basic background in animal natural history and care. Experience in education and hands-on skills (such as carpentry) a plus. Ability to lift 30 lbs and proof of a recent negative TB test required.
